The Beginning:

It was back in late October 2005 where the idea of Stoney Creek United was born. At the time, Andrew Rossini was playing on an indoor soccer team with his older brother's friends. They were playing in either one of the B or C divisions down at Soccerworld Hamilton. Andrew invited me, Adrian to come and watch one of his games one night, so i accepted the offer and headed down with him. As I sat in the stands watching his game taking place, something came across me, it was the fever and itch that i have not had or felt in many, many years. It was the fever to play soccer. I was so pumped after watching his game, that I said to Andrew, "we gotta get a team together asap." He was just as pumped and excited as I was about this idea of our own indoor soccer team. So the very next day I was very busy trying to think and recruit some players for our team. We both had a very rough, general list of people that might be interested. We called around, sent out some emails and even had it posted on our MSN names. The response I recieved about getting a new indoor soccer team was incredible.

The Start:

With about maybe 20+ hopefuls willing to play for this indoor squad, I had to trim this list down to 13. It was'nt really an easy task, considering that alot of the players I wanted to play on the team, could not play due to their other prior commitments. So with this being said, I found 13 guys that were able to play indoor soccer every Thursday night down at Soccerworld Hamilton. We were enrolled in the lowest division they had, which is D2. We wanted to start at the bottom and hopefully work our way up to the top of the higher divisions as the years past. There was about 1 month to go before the start of our first indoor season and we still did not have a name yet. I asked all of the players on the team to submit some suggestions they had for a good name for us. I recieved a whole bunch of names from people, most of them were very stupid and pointless. Out of all the names I recieved, one name stood out the most and that was Stoney Creek United. This name was submitted to me by our then Forward #18 Leo Petaccia. I sent out an email to the rest of the team and everybody came to an agreeance that this was the best suited name for our squad. And I guess like the saying goes "and the rest was history..."

The Season:

Our first indoor season did not start off very well at all. We faced our then instant rivals, F.C. Europa, which consisted of some friends and family from our team. We looked very disorganized and out of shape. We ended up loosing our first match by a score of 5-2. But, we did not give up there. We bounced back and won our very next game, by a whopping score of 7-2. The rest of our games throughout the season were very close and tight. Some consisting of only a 1 goal differencial. We ended the season with a very poor record of 3-7-0, placing us in last out of 8 teams in our division. We headed into the playoffs facing the 1st place team, Mountain Rez, who had already beat us twice during the regular season. We played hard, gave it our all and we ended up winning the game by a score of 3-1. We then played M&M in the semi-finals. Once again we played hard, gave it our all and tried our best, but we ended up falling short and loosing by a score of 1-0. We then played Warrior Athletic Club for the 3rd place position in the playoffs. I guess our spirits were running low by this time, because we lost yet another very close game by a score of 3-2. So, I guess for a brand new team with very little chemistry that finished in last place during the regular season, coming in 4th in the playoffs is a pretty good start for our soon to be legacy!!!
